I’m so glad that we’ve finally connected! (Cue dramatic music and slow-motion running.)
I’m Sammy, a wildlife conservationist (read: science nerd), editor, traveler, photographer, and adventure-seeker.
I’ve been all over the US and across the world to study, volunteer, intern, and work with wildlife — I’ve dedicated my life to protecting animals in any that way I can.
You can too! Everyone has something to offer.
So what is this site for, anyway?
First and foremost, I want to help you reach your own conservation goals. Here I’ll share:
-my own experiences in the field
-guidance on how to get into the field
-how you can help in a variety of ways
Secondly, I believe that stories, images, and videos can change hearts and minds.
Using digital media (and the wonder that is social media), we can encourage people to fall in love with species (or at least view them in a different light); people protect what they love.
With this in mind, my goals are:
-to help organizations and conservationists share their stories and reach more people through social media
-to share positive, action-oriented material here and on social media (conservation isn’t always depressing!)
-to assist organizations with social media, basic design projects, photography, and outreach
-to share my own images, videos, and experiences with the world
I’ll also share my own adventures and photographs here, and I invite you to connect and share your own experiences!
“I alone cannot change the world. But I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” Mother Teresa
What am I up to now?
I’m currently the Editorial Director/Social Media Manager at Roaring Earth, a wildlife site that reaches millions of wildlife enthusiasts weekly. I also own a photography business, Barkley & Company, centered around animals (obviously); and I volunteer with both Marine Mammals of Maine and Bangor Humane Society every week.
Here are some of the schools, companies and organizations I’ve been a part of or have collaborated with in the past (thanks to all of you!):
Join me on Facebook to stay up to date with positive wildlife content. You can reach me anytime at email@example.com. I’d love to hear from you.
